West Islip proudly celebrated the 56th anniversary of the West Islip American Legion's sponsorship of the Memorial Day Parade. Community members and students marched in this annual event that pulls the community together in remembrance of those who have given their lives in the name of freedom. The parade officially began with the raising of the flag at the intersection of Higbie Lane and Udall Road, and continued down Higbie Lane for a memorial service at Paul J. Bellew Elementary School.

It is very obvious how involved West Islip students and their families are by the number of community organizations they belong to. You will find photos below of West Islip students participating in marching bands, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Soccer, Little League, twirling, YES, the West Islip Bicentennial, KIC, the West Islip Chamber of Commerce, the Fire Department and more!
