Helping Hands Happy Meal & Backpack Drive

Helping Hands in West Islip, Inc. began in 1990 with a goal to  inspire children and the community to unite in an effort to assist local Long Island children in need.

The program calls upon the compassion and generosity of schools, group organizations and the community at large to provide essential items for the under serviced children on Long Island.

They provide 7,000 Long Island children and 21 local charities with ongoing assistance. The children that are helped are the "the poorest of the poor" and are provided with living essentials such as clothes, shoes, toys, food, backpacks, school supplies etc.

All nine schools in the West Islip School District participate in the various drives within their school buildings.
